Dynamics and Mechanisms of Molecular and Cellular Structures

We focus on: Computations and Simulations of Biological Structures and Datamining from Molecular Structures, and locate Department of Biochemistry, Biophysics, and Molecular Biology and Laurence H. Baker Center for Bioinformatics and Biological Statistics at Iowa State University, Ames, Iowa.

Research Interests:

Theoretical and computational studies on the structures, sequences and functions of proteins, nucleic acids, and their interactions, including:

  • Simulations of molecular and cellular motions
  • Datamining from structures
  • Bridge separate experimental biology areas with creative and innovative computational approaches
  • Relationship among structure, sequence, mechanism and function
  • Molecular interactions for proteins and nucleic acids
  • Computational methods to aid molecular modeling and the design of new drugs
  • High performance computing in biology

  • BCB569 Structural Genome Informatics (with Guang Song)
  • BCB593 Workshop in Bioinformatics and Computational Biology
